Companies having recognized the value of IP as an intangible corporate asset are now moving towards maximum generation of revenues, through proper and effective exploitation of their Intellectual property rights. Every ambitious and value conscious organization today, is dedicating a significant amount of resources, corporal as well as financial towards the development of its intellectual property sector. The establishment of corporate IP cells, dedicated solely for exploiting intangible assets owned by companies, is indeed substantial proof of the changing times.

Applied to intellectual property, a company’s value chain would specifically deal with innovation, protection, management and utilization. Innovation, being the product of an organization’s creativity, usually acquires its value when the company ensures a strong protection for it. Actual value addition, however, occurs only through effective management and resourceful utilization of the nascent innovation.
